Featuring a Clinical Psychologist & Addiction Expert.

1. Mental health is holistic

It encompasses wellness in every aspect of our lives—spiritual, social, physical, emotional, and academic.

2. Mental health affects everyone

Both young and old are impacted, making awareness and care essential for all.

3. Core values are a strong defense

To guide JAMBites and school leavers, it is important to help them identify and understand their core values—religious, moral, academic, and social.

4. Failure is part of growth

Failing an exam is not the end; it is an opportunity to improve, follow instructions better, and gain deeper understanding.

5. Failure does not define you

Failing a course does not make you a failure in life. Many successful people have experienced setbacks.

6. Choose purpose over pressure

Undergraduates should develop valuable skills or side hustles. Engaging in cybercrime or prostitution to impress others should never be an option.

7. Sleep is essential for mental wellness

Everyone needs about 7–8 hours of sleep daily. The ages of 18–25 are critical for brain development.

8. Avoid harmful habits

Constantly watching movies without adequate rest can damage your brain and negatively affect your mental health.

9.Simple Signs You May Need Mental Health Support

I. Difficulty sleeping

Struggling to fall asleep or stay asleep consistently.

ii. Sleeping too much

Feeling the need to sleep excessively or always feeling tired.

iii. Ego disturbance

Sudden changes in self-esteem—feeling overly inferior or excessively superior.

iv. Blindly following celebrities or trends

Losing your sense of identity or values in the process.

v. Unrealistic expectations of yourself

Putting constant pressure on yourself to be perfect or do too much.

Relying on drugs, alcohol, or other harmful habits to manage stress.

ix. Irregular eating habits

Eating too much, too little, or forcing yourself to eat.

x. Hearing voices or losing touch with reality (advanced sign)

This requires immediate professional attention.

 10. Social Media Awareness

Social media is everywhere, but what you follow and engage with shapes what you keep seeing. Be intentional.

11. Do not follow people whose values do not align with your religious, moral, social, or academic beliefs.

12.Addiction can have lifelong consequences—so be mindful before you start using any substance.
